About EDITOR'S CHOICE 2009
In each issue the team of experts at AMERICAN PHOTO reviews new cameras and other photographic equipment by exhaustively testing them in the field in order to give its readers an understanding of how the products work in real-life shooting situations. The EDITOR'S CHOICE AWARDS are annual awards bestowed to new products reviewed and selected in respective genres in each year.

Reason behind Award (abridged citation)
Tamron has successfully packed the all-time wide focal length range from 27mm wide-angle to 405mm ultra telephoto (35mm format equivalent) in the photographic interchangeable lens. Yet the lens is lightweight and compact, inviting handheld shooting, which is in turn made practical by Tamron's built-in Vibration Compensation (VC) system. VC helps the lens maintain surprising optical quality as a 15X zoom lens.

  2. *Di II lenses are designed exclusively for use with digital SLR cameras equipped with APS-C size image sensors and employ an optical system optimized for the characteristics of those digital cameras.
